Elizabeth Keith was a Scottish self-taught traditional artist who later created prints in the Japanese technique of woodblock printmaking.
In 1915, Keith traveled to Japan and impressed by the charm of its culture and arts, she remained there for nine years. There, Watanabe publisher convinced Elizabeth to transform one of her artworks into a woodblock print. Since then, Keith published more than a hundred prints. She exhibited them around the world - not only in Japan, but also in London and New York.

Street lanterns illuminate the lively night street of Peking. People walk between food stalls, cheerfully enjoying their time. Dark night colours contrast with bright lights, making the print more distinguished.
