Original Japanese antique.
A 19th century rectangular suzuribako writing box with an integral ink stone and a fitted case. The lid is designed with a coastal landscape of pine trees and crags realised in takamaki-e on a nashiji ground. The interior is decorated with seasonal flora signalling late summer and early autumn.
