Teruhide Kato was a traditional fashion/kimono designer until the age of 50 before switching his career to printmaking. The majority of his prints are in tanzaku format. Most of his designs depict the ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto, recalling the classic woodblock prints of the nineteenth century. His style is refined and current, bringing to mind the best of contemporary Japanese design.
