Elizabeth Keith was a Scottish self-taught traditional artist who later created prints in the Japanese technique of woodblock printmaking. In 1915, Keith traveled to Japan and kept by the charm of its culture and arts, she remained there for nine years. There, Watanabe publisher convinced Elizabeth to transform one of her artworks into a woodblock print. From then, Keith published more than a hundred prints. She exhibited not only in Japan, but also in London and New York.
