Fusanobu was a mid-Edo period woodblock print artist and publisher. He worked in the Torii school style, in an early ukiyo-e form of print known as benizuri-e. These prints were mainly in pink (beni) and green. Fusanobu went by several names but later took on the name ‘Ginsetsu’, which is seen on some of his prints.

Fusanobu also ran a wholesale bookshop, which also sold nishiki-e woodblock prints. Based in Edo, it went under the name as ‘Maruya’ or ‘Seihonya’. Between 1760 - 1777, Fusanobu also worked on and published approximately 170 picture books. He became well known in his own right due to his talents, and published over 200 different kinds of books through Maruya. However, the family’s fortunes declined in the late 1700s, forcing them to close the business.
