This triptych captures a scene from The Tale of Shiraishi in which courtesan Miyagino and her sister Shinobu challenged and defeated Shiga Danshichi, who killed their father. The women had long planned their revenge, training in martial arts and becoming skilled at handling various weapons. In here, one of the sisters thrusts a naginata at Shiga while the other at right has entangled his leg in a chain attached to a sickle.
