Hirokage Utagawa

Hirokage is a woodblock print artist also known by the name of Ichiyusai, Hirokage. He was a member of the artistic school of Utagawa Hiroshige I. In 1859 Hirokage designed a humorous triptych titled ‘Aomono Sakana Gunzei Daikassen no zu’: The Great Battle between the Fruit, Vegetables and the Fish. He is most famous however for the series Edo ‘Meisho Doke Zukushi’ (Joyful Events in Famous Places in Edo), published between 1860 and 1861.
