Publisher: Tsutaya Kichizo
Date: 1858

A view of busy Suruga-cho street in Edo, with an elderly samurai encountering musicians playing shamisen and flute as they stroll along. The large department store Echigoya lines the street, its crest featured prominently on the blue curtains covering the shops. The building is decorated with sacred shimenawa ropes for a festival celebration. The composition leads the eye down the street to a view of Mt. Fuji in the distance, with a few birds fluttering in the sky above.
