Sentaro Iwata was born in Asakusa district of Toyko. He studied with Ito Shinsui and later worked as an illustrator. Mainly bijin (beautiful women) woodblock prints are known by the artist. This print shows a young lady after her bath in a loose robe, holding a towel with one hand and carefully arranging her hair. Sentaro's attractive designs of contemporary beauties shows a modern approach to the beauty genre of woodblock prints.
